Islamabad – The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Pakistan Office and the KOICA Alumni Association Pakistan (KAAP) successfully hosted the “2025 Annual Reception and Knowledge Sharing Seminar” in Islamabad on October 7, 2025. The event brought together KOICA alumni and government officials to promote knowledge exchange and strengthen the partnership between Korea and Pakistan in development cooperation.

The ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including Mr. Je-ho Yeon, Country Director of KOICA Pakistan Office; Mr. Humair Karim, Secretary, Ministry of Economic Affairs (EAD).

In his opening remarks, Mr. Je-ho Yeon highlighted that the alumni association stands as a true symbol of Pak–Korea friendship. He noted that through the strong network of KAAP members, KOICA projects are being implemented more effectively across Pakistan, as alumni continue to promote bilateral cooperation from their respective government positions as honorary ambassadors of Korea.

He further emphasized that the continuous development of the alumni network will serve as a catalyst for strengthening the Korea–Pakistan partnership, expressing his gratitude to KAAP members for their commitment and contribution to advancing mutual cooperation between the two nations.

During the knowledge-sharing session, two KOICA fellowship alumni presented their research findings. A graduate of the “Exploration of Good Research & Development Approach for Improvement of Agriculture Productivity” program spoke on “Research and Development Approaches for Enhancing Agricultural Productivity,” highlighting the role of agriculture in ensuring food security and supporting national development.
The second presenter, a graduate of the “Improving Policy Actions for Climate Resilience in Water Resource Management in Pakistan” fellowship program, delivered a presentation titled “Navigating Climate Change & Water Management in Pakistan.” She discussed strategies to address Pakistan’s water scarcity and management challenges, emphasizing policy actions aimed at strengthening climate resilience.

The KOICA Pakistan Office also shared updates on KAAP’s 2025 activities, including the Knowledge Sharing Seminars held in Gilgit (July) and Lahore (August), and the 15th Anniversary Ceremony of KOICA Pakistan Office in June. The Office expressed appreciation for the alumni’s active engagement and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering continued collaboration.

Since the establishment of KAAP in 2010, a total of 1,841 Pakistani participants have completed KOICA fellowship programs, with 243 alumni joining knowledge-sharing activities this year alone.
The KOICA Pakistan Office emphasized that “these exchanges not only strengthen Korea–Pakistan friendship but also serve as a driving force for sustainable regional and national development.”

Marking its 15th anniversary, KOICA Pakistan and KAAP reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and mutual cooperation, concluding the event on a successful note.
